12/7/2007   New USATT ratings  have been posted to those played in SOAR Open (November 17-18, 2007).  Eight players have achieved their career high rating: Adam Block - 1864 (+51), Morris Leichter – 1863 (+229)!!!, Menachem Turchick – 1793 (+181)!!, Cyril Mikula 1549 (+45), James Petrie – 1537 (+223)!!!, Quoc Pham – 1495 (+100)!, Larry Smith - 1317 (+85), and John Banot – 1266 (+27). 9/22/2007 USATT sanctioned 2007 SOAR Open is coming. SOuthern ARizona TTT will be held November 17-18, 2007 in Tucson at the Armory Park Senior Center. Just like last year's tourney, there will be the Championship Giant RR Event on Saturday, Nov.17 and few other events on Sunday that we will be talking about. Everyone interested in discussing second day events is welcome to participate in SATTA meeting on Sunday, September 30, at 1:30 pm (Armory Senior Center). Tucson Table Tennis Club (David Wesley) and SATTA (Misha Chernobelskiy) recently negotiated new playing time for drop-in table tennis practice at the Udall Senior Center multipurpose room on Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. There will be a total of five blue Stiga tables. Practice is free for persons 50+; Adult Pass - $1.25; Youth (17 and under) - $1.00. This agreement will be in effect for one year, starting August 18th. Let’s show appreciation to the Udall Center Supervisor A.J. Rico by using this facility to its maximum at the times shown above during this year.

Top achiever - Alex Chernobelskiy (Juniors - gold 5th year in a row, U-1800 runner-up, U-3700 Doubles runner-up with Adam Block). 6/15/2007   New USATT ratings  have been posted to those played in Southwest Open (May 26) in Tucson.  Nine players have achieved their career high rating: Alex Chernobelskiy – 1797 (+21), Chanwook Park 1646 (+20), Menachem Turchick – 1576 (+32), Raphael Lizama – 1544 (+461)!!!, Rocky Dotzler – 1380 (+47), Trung Le – 1325 (+25), Delphine Perrodin – 1256 (+23), John Banot – 1236 (+138), and Al Douglas – 1070 (+29). Top other achievers are Cyril Mikula (+66), Greg Redman (+47), and Linda Jones (+40). Congratulations!!!

3/24/2007 The Southern Arizona Table Tennis Association announced the 2006 Player of the Year Award at the annual meeting on Saturday, March 24.
Lev Vays was recognized for his sense of fair play, courtesy, and striving spirit. He had an incredible season in 2006, playing all 7 Arizona USATT tournaments and claiming two singles titles. Full standings.
